Last year, the depth of the forward Andrew Desjardins recorded a career-high eight goals and 13 points with a total of 70 regular season games for the Chicago Blackhawks.

This year, however, he will have to sit out the start of the season, instead of trying to get a head start on his contribution again.

It was confirmed on Monday morning Tracey Myers is the CSN which Desjardins is out with four to six weeks lower body injury, putting his regular season debut on Centre Group Blackhawks somewhere around the end of November. Myers did not reveal anything regarding the type of lower body injuries.

Undrafted NHL level, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds alumnus first went pro in 2007, with the skating now-defunct Laredo Bucks have now-defunct CHL. Since then, he spent almost his entire career with the San Jose Sharks, either forward or depth of a minor leaguer their AHL system, and with the Blackhawks. He recorded a career in 362 NHL, putting 23 goals and 63 points in the process.

The fourth liner, the loss of Desjardins from Chicago’s active list is not the worst thing in the club – but the cap-strapped team, they probably do not want to see too many players out of the short-term injuries (injuries out if at all).

Blackhawks open the 2016-17 season on Wednesday, October 12, when they face the St. Louis Blues at home at the United Center.
